Priorities & Capacity

Life is busy.

So busy that it can lead us to be ineffective and unproductive in other areas of life.

So next Monday morning, ask yourself this question:

What am I going to change so that this week is different than last week?

When I think about CEOs and Presidents, I think to myself: “There is someone that has incredible amount of pressure and responsibility in comparison to me, but has the same 24 hours everyday… How do they do it?!”

I believe it's not only that they have an increased capacity because of life experience and discipline, but they also have more process surrounding them.

So when we are consistently stressed, behind the 8 ball on tasks and late to meetings, it's time to ask ourselves: "Can I put more defined structure & process around my work day?"

Here are some helpful quotes on setting priorities and increasing your capacity:

  • "If someone can do something 80% as well as you, give it to them." John Maxwell

  • "What you're doing is important, it's just not important that it's done by you." Peter Wooster

  • "When you say yes to something, you're saying no to something else." Louis Giglio

  • "Don't let the urgent overwhelm the important" Craig Groeschel

  • "Not can I do this, but should I do this?" Andy Stanley

Another way to look at your week is, “What is my ‘to-don’t’ list? This is a great reminder to be intentional about what you let run your day so your day doesn’t run you.

Your time is valuable, so take a few minutes to set some simple priorities and process in your work week and watch how this increases your capacity over time.
